At Home

I moved to Cape Town about five years ago on a 12 month contract, and what more can I say… I’m still here! I must admit, much to the delight of my daughter, who absolutely adores the Mother City and all her social offerings… For all those parents of ten year old daughters (or close), you will agree that our roles are reduced to being the taxi driver or chaperone (if we're lucky)…
She wasn't so kind to my son though, and with the prominence of substance abuse amongst teens in the Cape, he's been struggling to stay 'head above water', in an already socially challenging world... After several failed attempts to remain normal in a rather abnormal society, he's opted out and moved back to Jozzie... now we pray for his wellbeing and a bright and happy future...

Anyway, it’s not that bad… and although I MISS me some Joburg!!! I can appreciate the ‘Mountain’ and the sea each morning on my way to work… I also find that what I miss most about ‘home’, are the people… my friends!!! Oh how I miss my friends… ;-( That's me and Yoyi at my last birthday... what a wonderful night!

And of course this is Graham and I at Soi in Mellville (and as always, at least 8 Marguerita's later...) Oh the good times, how I miss the brunches at Nino's, our late nights in Mellville, or just chilling at the Zone and watching the world walk by...
