Healing with Energy

My Healing Self

So, I recently qualified as a Reiki Practioner… Yay!!! I’m very excited about this, because my training has equipped me with wonderful skills to heal myself and others…

The course was intensive and fulfilling… and our Reiki Master (Marisa Cronje) made every second memorable! I felt an instant "soul connection" when I first met her at Reiki Dhama, and she’s one of those people who have an innate ability to make learning an absolute pleasure. This was also a very challenging time for me, since the nature of energy healing and Reiki in particular, requires you to do much introspection, because to heal others, you must be in a place of absolute self truth and comfort.

So, with each passing week I found myself struggling through the myriad of “baggage” I have been dragging along, for so long. And, with each passing week I found myself shedding this luggage, one bag at a time, until I could make peace with myself, and let go of the things that have happened, accept the things I cannot change, and changed the things I could!

It was truly an empowering process to find that my healing lies within… and by the end of the course, it was liberating to know that I’m well on my way to finding my peace, but with no illusions of instant enlightenment, my struggle continues... aluta continua!

Introducing Reiki

Reiki is the Japanese word for “universal life force energy” – in simple terms the energy that lives in all creation, that is inherent to all living beings and that nourishes them and keeps them alive. With the help of Reiki you discover how to better harmonise the beauty and wholeness of the Inner Self.
Today, more and more people are becoming aware of the benefits of Reiki and this increasing consciousness of its power can only create a better balanced world for us all.
Benefits of Reiki include:

Balances and amplifies Energy
Increases Creativity
Helps Release Emotions
Releases Stress
Works on Causal Level of Dis-ease
Encourages Emotional, mental, spiritual & physical Healing
Increases Awareness

What is Rei... and ki?

When Rei and Ki are broken down into two component parts: Rei is Universal, transcendental spirit, mysterious power, essence (Japanese alphabet); Ki is described as the vital, life-force energy, very similar to Chi of the Chinese. Ki is also the vital life force of the Earth, the planets, the stars, the heavens; and these sources of energy affect the living body’s Ki. Everything alive contains Ki and radiates it – it is the bio-magnetic energy of the aura.

What does Reiki do?

To heal, the Reiki practitioner need only lay both hands down, with the intention to heal and the Ki energy does the rest without any directions; flowing through the healer’s hands and goes to where it is needed. It is not drawn from the healer, or from their aura, but from the Universal Source. The energy also heals on all levels – physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. It heals the whole person. The Reiki energy will go to the cause as well as the pain area (symptom).

Reiki relieves pain, speeds up healing, stops bleeding, relaxes the receiver and balances the chakras and aura. The rates of respiration slow down and blood pressure lowers. Emotional calming also occurs. Anything else that happens is up to the energy. We are merely facilitators for the energy and only the receiver can be responsible for their healing; if and when they are ready to let go of whatever it is that is causing the problem. We simply provide the space for the person and do the healing with them rather than to them.

Reiki will never do any harm and is valid for young and old, plants and animals. If there is illness, pain or emotional upset, Reiki helps. It will not prevent someone from dying if it is not his or her will; but it will ease the process.
